Total healthcare, without an appointment

After just nine months of serving New Philadelphia and the surrounding communities, RapidCare urgent care center has become a vital addition to SpringVale Health Center’s distribution of healthcare throughout the area. Community members have come to rely on RapidCare as a resource for their urgent behavioral health, primary care, crisis intervention, and pharmacy needs.

“When people ask who RapidCare is for, the answer is everyone,” said Miles Riley, SpringVale Health Center’s director of marketing and fundraising. “Part of SpringVale’s mission is to make quality health care available to all individuals – your financial status should not prevent you from accessing professional and compassionate health care. Our organization embraces and implements a holistic approach to healthcare, meaning we provide care to the whole person, not just one aspect of care. So offering medical and behavioral health care in an urgent care setting just made sense.”

RapidCare offers quick and convenient treatment of minor, non-life-threatening
health issues like cold, flu, minor injuries (including broken bones), and burns and cuts. Staff at RapidCare are also able to provide services such as health screenings, bloodwork, and X-rays.

“RapidCare also serves as a valued resource for anyone experiencing a behavioral health crisis,” Riley said. “Anyone can walk in and meet with a behavioral health professional. Through our relationship with the ADAMHS Board of Tuscarawas and Carroll counties, individuals without insurance presenting with urgent behavioral health needs will have access to a sliding fee scale.”

Riley said the behavioral health specialists at RapidCare are also a great resource for those who have questions about how they can help a loved one.

“Our counselors at RapidCare not only provide immediate care for individuals, they are also an incredible resource for those who have questions about helping a loved one,” Riley said.

RapidCare accepts Medicaid, Medicare and most private insurance. All individuals, regardless of whether they have insurance or not, are evaluated for the sliding fee scale. No one is turned away for lack of ability to pay for services.

“SpringVale Health Centers is proud to be at the national forefront of holistic healthcare that provides integrated behavioral health and physical healthcare,” said JJ Boroski, executive director of SpringVale Health Centers. “At SpringVale, we know there is a reciprocal relationship between one’s behavioral health and their physical health. Positive health outcomes are much greater when you are working with the whole person, integrating services compared to fragmented, uncoordinated care. RapidCare is another step in our organization’s goal of making it even easier to receive quality comprehensive health care through one organization.”

Providing both physical healthcare and behavioral health care in an urgent care setting allows individual experiencing a behavioral health crisis to be seen and assessed face-to-face by a behavioral health specialist and receive needed medications along with physical care and services.

“The RapidCare model allows individuals to get the care when they need it, not having to worry about when they can get on their provider’s schedule. This option helps eliminate needless high-cost visits to emergency rooms. Our providers then coordinate follow-up care with the individual’s outpatient providers, whether they are within our organization or with another provider not associated with SpringVale Health Centers,” Boroski said. “Often times, individuals present with more than one issue. At SpringVale, a provider can see an individual, prescribe medications, and schedule dental care, bloodwork or schedule appointments for other needs, confident individuals can receive those services within the SpringVale system.”

From OB/GYN and prenatal care to pediatrics and gerontology, SpringVale Health Centers cares for individuals of every age. SpringVale’s dedicated pharmacy is located at 204 S. Bellevue Ave. in Dover and has recently extended its hours.

“Prescriptions through SpringVale’s pharmacy cost anywhere between 5-7% less than the same medications through other retail pharmacies,” Boroski said. “Qualifying as a federal program we have access to the federal 340B Prescription Drug Program which allows us to purchase most prescription drugs for pennies on the dollar. We then pass the savings on to our patients, often resulting in significant reduction in costs on prescribed medications.”

For over 55 years, SpringVale Health Centers, formally known as Community Mental Healthcare, has continued to expand its offering of services to meet the growing health care needs of the community. In addition to the services mentioned above, the organization offers individual and group counseling for children and adults, psychiatry, substance abuse treatment, 24/7 crisis intervention, child and adult case management, school-based counseling, primary care, dental, OB/GYN and pharmacy services.
