Open Access: New Walk-in Service at SpringVale Health Centers Improves Access to Behavioral Health Care in Carroll County

SpringVale Health Centers in Carrollton is now offering a walk-in clinic that allows individuals to have immediate and direct access to a licensed behavioral health specialist – no appointment necessary.

The walk-in clinic is open every Wednesday from 8:00am to 5:00pm at SpringVale Health Centers’ Carrollton location at 331 W. Main St.

The walk-in clinic was established to provide immediate access to a licensed counselor. With the workforce shortage, many individuals need to wait two or three weeks or longer for an appointment at local agencies. SpringVale Health Centers is creatively working to eliminate that wait, providing the right care at the right time. Together, the individual and counselor can develop a plan to address their unique health care needs. This service is a partnership between SpringVale Health Centers and the Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services (ADAMHS) Board of Tuscarawas and Carroll Counties.

“Anyone needing crisis intervention, one-on-one counseling, or substance abuse treatment are encouraged to utilize the open access walk-in clinic, said Gwen Malcuit, Director of Behavioral Health Services at SpringVale Health Centers. “We are here to help in any way we can.”

Malcuit said the walk-in clinic was specifically designed to meet the needs of anyone who walks through the door – no matter what the individual’s need may be.

“At the end of the day, we want people to know help is available and we want to make it available when people need it,” she said. “If you need counseling services, substance use treatment, or crisis intervention, we can help. If you have questions about how to assist a loved one who may be struggling, we can help. If you need clothing or food…we’ll do everything we can to make sure your needs are met…no matter what.”
